Emre Cenker is a lecturer in Mechanical Engineering department at the University of Birmingham. His research focus is laser-based optical diagnostics in reactive flows and nanoparticles. He demonstrated methodologies and novel approaches for quantitative measurements of in-flame soot particles and cavitation analysis. He has extensive experiences of measuring flow and combustion characteristics as well as emissions at high pressure. He is actively expanding his research portfolio into image processing and engine research. His research covers both fundamentals and industrial applications. Emre worked as a topic organizer in engine combustion network (ECN), spray combustion consortium (SCC), and international laser-induced incandescence (LII) workshops.

Between 2011 and 2015, Emre has partaken in various youth diplomacy activities. In 2012 he established a non-profit organization in Turkey, Youth Commission for Diplomacy and Collaboration (YCDC), which aims training of youth in global diplomacy. He chaired this association for three years and assumed the G20 Sherpa position for youth outreach group in 2015.
